About the Studies and Funding

In summer 2009, the City of Healdsburg obtained nearly $1 million from Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration to conduct engineering and environmental studies to determine how best to address issues surrounding the bridge. These studies are now currently underway; alternatives for the bridge have been developed and environmental impacts for those alternatives are being identified and evaluated. The potential to fund the construction of this project through various funding sources is being investigated by the project team as well. Some of these funding sources may pay up to 88 percent of the full project cost.

Project Area

The map below depicts the general project area for purposes of conducting engineering and environmental studies in support of the Healdsburg Bridge Project. The project area encompasses those areas potentially impacted by the project. It also encompasses areas that may be affected by restoration activities related to enhancement of natural resources in the vicinity of the bridge, including the Russian River. The project area also includes locations that may be accessed during work activities, roads and parcels where equipment might travel through or be stored, or adjoining corridors that support natural habitats or sensitive species.
